The Pundok Padayon Bol-anon is still in the process of consultation among its members regarding which national candidates to back in the May 2022 polls.
This was the revelation of Vice Gov. Rene Relampagos in a telephone interview with The Bohol Tribune on Mar. 25, 2022.
Relampagos was able to take The Bohol Tribune’s call despite his busy schedule as his local coalition, Pundok Padayon Bol-anon, held a grand rally in several 2nd district towns on Friday, March 25, 2022.
He said the coalition stalwarts will meet to decide who, among the national candidates, will get their nod.
Pundok Padayon Bol-anon is a local coalition of different national political parties which includes the Partido Demokratiko ng Pilipinas-Lakas ng Bayan (PDP-Laban) and the National Unity Party (NUP).
Gov. Arthur Yap is running under the banner of PDP-Laban Cusi wing, while Relampagos and first district Cong. Edgar Chatto are with NUP.
On Mar. 22, 2022, the Cusi-wing of the PDP-Laban, announced that it will be supporting the candidacy of Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr.
The Cusi wing of the party approved a resolution backing the candidacy of Marcos Jr. on Mar. 21, 2022.
“Senator Bongbong Marcos is the candidate whose platform is most aligned with the development program of President Rodrigo Roa Duterte…. He is the candidate whose vision of governance is the most aligned with PDP-Laban’s 11-point agenda,” the resolution of the PDP-Laban reads.
The Cusi faction is chaired by President Rodrigo Duterte. Duterte was not among those who signed the resolution.
Moreover, NUP, on Mar. 24, 2022, has announced that it will be supporting the candidacy of Marcos Jr.
“[Marcos Jr’s] call for unity as the basic strategy for economic recovery, amidst the continuing [Coronavirus disease] COVID-19 pandemic and global uncertainties, is consistent and supportive of the NUP’s primary vision of ‘one nation, one future’ as enshrined in the Party constitution,” the party said in a statement released through its spokesperson and deputy secretary general Reginald Velasco.
