Tagb opens new slots for free theoretical driving course

The local government unit (LGU) of Tagbilaran has opened new slots for the 2nd batch of participants for the free theoretical driving course (TDC).
There was a need to open new slots for the 2nd batch as the slots for the 1st batch were availed of after 1 hour from announcement by the city mayor, according to the City Media Bureau.
Mayor John Geesnell Yap II thanked Land Transportation Office (LTO) Regional Director Victor Emmanuel Caindec and LTO Tagbilaran Chief Yvonne Auza for the additional free driving course slots.
New drivers license applicants are required to undergo a 15-hour TDC program before applying for a student driver’s permit.
The LTO aims to ensure that drivers’ licenses are given to properly trained and disciplined individuals with more than average driving skills and extensive knowledge on road safety and established traffic rules and regulation.
According to Memorandum Circular 2019-2176 implemented by the LTO, a student applicant requesting for a driver’s license is required to go through a 15-hour TDC under certified instructors.
The course is divided into three sessions and will cover everything from traffic regulations to LTO mandated special laws. It must be completed within two years from the day an applicant started the course. The curriculum is divided into classroom or theoretical instructions and actual driving sessions.
Classroom instruction is split into three sessions and will last for 15 hours.
Furthermore, a student will be provided with a copy of the updated Filipino Driver’s manual useful as a quick reference. Once the student-driver completes and passes the theoretical and practical driving course, he/she will be issued a Certificate of Driving Course Completion that will be used to process their license.
Tagb fire station gets new fire truck

City Mayor John Geesnell Yap II congratulated the Tagbilaran City Fire Station (TCFS) for the brand-new firetruck given by the national government thru the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP).
City Fire Marshal Chief Insp. Marlito Boyoro recognized the efforts of Mayor Yap in helping in the acquisition of the new fire truck.
Boyoro said the new firetruck is a tremendous help in keeping the city safe from fires.
Mayor Yap is grateful to the workers in the frontlines especially the TCFS personnel.
“We want to ease the work of our frontliners as much as we can. This new firetruck will definitely help the unit in its major tasks,” Yap said.
In 2021, the City Fire [Station] made major breakthroughs when they attended the SP [Sangguniang Panglungsod] session to discuss the new amendments to City Ordinance 293. The ordinance mandates big business establishments to undergo a Fire Safety seminar to ensure fire-safety literacy among its staff. With the new amendments, small and medium enterprises are now required to undergo fire safety training and conduct fire and exit drills to be facilitated by the City Fire [Station] Personnel”, the mayor said.
Boyoro stated that fire accidents can happen anywhere and anytime, whether your business is big or small.
The City Station Fire Chief said this move will help decrease the incidence of fire accidents in the city and will significantly contribute to having safer commercial buildings and workplaces in Tagbilaran.
Moreover, the City Fire Station entered into a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) authorizing Tagbilaran City Government to assess and collect Fire Code Fees in behalf of the BFP.
