Incumbent Gov. Arthur Yap’s relection bid for reelection is strongly backed by one of the stalwarts of Pundok Padayon Bol-anon, citing the governor’s excellent plans and programs for the economic growth and development of Bohol.
“Without a doubt, Gov. Art Yap best fits in all of the criteria to determine who is best qualified to be the Governor of Bohol,” First District Cong. Edgar Chatto pronounce during the back-to-back proclamation rallies in Sikatuna and Cortes on Wednesday, April 6, 2022.
Chatto cited Yap’s economic growth and development strategies in the areas of health, education, agriculture, tourism and information technology as well as innovations especially in agriculture that are geared towards poverty reduction and sustainable economic growth.
“I have always believed that one must abide by a set of criteria with the goal to arrive at the best results. This is the same for when selecting a person to hold a high-level leadership position,” Chatto stated.
The solon reiterated basic elements for selecting high level leadership positions that include not only scholastic records but also intellectual preparedness which includes the ability to receive and process information that are critical in policy decisions.
According to Chatto, Yap has displayed outstanding leadership skills especially in response to the pandemic and to typhoon Odette.
“Leadership skills are honed by experience and in this respect”, Chatto said as the solon recognized Yap’s stints as agriculture secretary, congressman, and governor.
Chatto also underscored as essential, the elements of accountable and development-oriented leadership which involve carrying out responsibilities to achieve desired results as well as knowledge on planning, budgeting, implementing, monitoring and evaluating programs, projects and activities geared towards achieving development vision, mission and goals.
The Pundok Padayon Bol-anon rallying call is for sustained progress anchored on the province’s shared vision for balanced economic growth.
When Chatto ended his 9-year term as governor in June 2019, Bohol’s poverty incidence dropped from a high of 36.6% in 2009 to 15% in 2018, posted a record high employment rate of 96.3% in 2016.
Bohol gained an average 9.1% growth rate according to the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas from 2015 to 2017.
Chatto credited the economic recovery of Bohol to the resilience of Boholanos, and capacity to help one other and strong faith in God.
Chatto also concurred with Albay Congressman Joey Salceda, an economist, who expressly commended Yap’s sound economic policies.
