A celebration of our salvation

The celebration of the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ gives us one clear message:  FAITH, HOPE and LOVE.  His death on the cross is the biggest sacrifice ever made in order to redeem the world which is full of sins.  Nobody could have allowed himself to be crucified for the sins of others except a person whose love is overflowing.  And for those who are steadfast in their faith, there is always hope as we joyfully celebrate His resurrection.

As we celebrate today the meaning of His death and resurrection, we should be reminded that our country needs every Filipino’s love and sacrifice.  In less than one month, we will be choosing our new public officials in whose hands we entrust power and authority to be used for our common good.  Those who will be catapulted to power should be reminded that they should dedicate their lives for others and not the other way around.  His position is not a passport for self-aggrandizement.

We call on the candidates and the voters alike to do a sacrifice for our country.  Let the May 9, 2022 electoral exercise be an avenue for us to do what is right.  Voters must choose leaders who have both the character and competence to serve.  Voters must be reminded, time and again, that the country is the one that suffers for every wrong decision made during elections.

We urge our candidates to reflect on the message of the death and resurrection of Jesus.  Once elected into office, our public officials are called upon to make a sacrifice of setting aside personal interest and heed to the call of his duty. Only a person who has a genuine love for public service can do this.  While all elected public officials profess their love for the country publicly especially during the campaign, only a few may be considered to have the pure intention to serve.

We hope and pray that the upcoming elections will usher in new hope for our country.  If all the winning candidates will just be true to the mandate of their office, then every election will be a celebration of our salvation as a nation.
