Netizens react to heavy traffic near Loay-Clarin Bridge

The Bohol Tribune ran a story about the heavy traffic near the Loay-Clarin Bridge in its April 3, 2022 issue of the paper.

The story is about a Valencia resident who got caught in a traffic standstill on her way home from Tagbilaran City.

Following the publication of the story, several netizens commented about their experience which is similar to what the Valencia resident had.

Netizen Ondette Wakini said that indeed the traffic standstill near the bridge lasted for almost an hour.

However, she qualified that there is a valid reason for the traffic problem.

“Yes almost 1hr ui but ok ra valid reason ngano na traffic,” she said.

Another Facebook user identified as Frederick Reuter said: “This bridge is a disaster from A to Z. Its location in the terrain will make congestions on a regular basis. Claiming it will open up for more business is totally wrong. Who on earth puts a bridge on a national highway straight into a congested marked and heavily visited tourist spot like this?”

Moreover, netizen Jam Z. Bautista said that people should look for alternative routes.

Bautista quipped: “Kinsa man tawn dili matraffic kamulo man repair, pagka na laman dalia makareklamo kasimple ana makita mana nga nagrehab, nagtrabaho mao natrafic, reklamo mo adto mo uwak agi Bilar Batuan, Balilihan, Tagbilaran, pwedi pud saka mo anunang naay libre didto hatud sa syudad ni igsuon ko Jerome Gallogo libre pajud kaon kay kada adlaw naay lechon kay didto wai tulay na nagrehad o repair o construct way traffic if ma late mo you anticipate travel time.”

These netizens pitched their opinion regarding the traffic issue near the bridge.

The story was about the experience of Luneta (not her real name) who got caught in a traffic standstill on April 1, 2022.

Luneta, the Valencia resident, pointed out the lack of personnel manning the traffic and the heavy vehicles that are allowed to pass despite a detour plan, as the top reasons for the traffic standstill.
