SP hikes burial aid to family of deceased brgy. officials

The Sangguniang Panlalawigan of Bohol (SP) led by Vice Gov. Rene Relampagos, increased the burial assistance given to the family of deceased elected elected barangay officials in the province.

This comes as the SP approved on March 22, 2022, a resolution authorizing the

said increase in benefit.

Relampagos, the chairperson of the Committee on Appropriations, Budget, and

Finance, said the burial assistance given to the family of deceased elected barangay officials was increased from P10,000 to P20,000.

According to Relampagos, the barangay officials are very deserving of the said

increase in assistance as they are the frontliners in the implementation of the various programs, projects and activities of the national, provincial, and local governments.

Accordingly, the increase of the burial assistance was a result of the request from

the Liga ng mga Barangay-Bohol Chapter through a resolution.

The president of the Liga ng mga Barangay Bohol Chapter, Romulo Cepedoza,

expressed his gratitude for the move to increase in burial benefit.

Meanwhile, Relampagos clarified that the said burial assistance is only for the

families of elected barangay officials who pass away during their incumbency.

He added that the increase of burial aid is one way of giving our heartfelt thanks

to the barangay officials who have dedicated their lives in the service of the Boholano people.
