PGBh, GCGMH collaborate for better healthcare delivery in prov’l. hospitals

The Provincial Government of Bohol (PGBh) is collaborating with Governor Celestino Gallares Memorial Hospital (GCGMH) to improve the healthcare service delivery in the 10 province-owned hospitals.

This comes as the Sangguniang Panlalawigan (SP) led by Vice Gov. Rene Relampagos, approved the Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) between the PGBh and the GCGMH.

The GCGMH is providing the support to 5 medical in the 10 province-owned hospitals with the aim of improving health service delivery, according to reports.

Dr. Cesar Tomas Lopez, OIC of the Provincial Health Office (PHO), explained during the pre-session meeting of the SP that the collaboration is part of PGBh’s initiative to further enhance the capacity of medical professionals working in the different province-owned hospitals, which are also known as district hospitals.

The PGBh is tapping the expertise of GCGMH, which is the apex referral hospital in Bohol, as the latter has already acquired various specializations in different medical fields.

The MOA stipulates that GCGMH will collaborate with the PGBh through the PHO, in five areas namely: Geriatric and Palliative Medicine; Cancer Medicine; Trauma Medicine; Cardiology; and Infectious Diseases.

Moreover, the province-owned hospitals are expected to provide primary care services related to the aforementioned five medical services.

Under the agreement, GCGMH is providing the telemedicine facilities. This enables patients from the district hospitals to consult specialists from the GCGMH.

Furthermore, the telemedicine facility will enable doctors working at the district hospitals to consult with specialists at the GCGMH, regarding the medical specializations mentioned.

According to Lopez, the telemedicine system will ensure that district hospital doctors will gain updated knowledge regarding the latest medical trends.

Additionally, the GCGMH is going to provide continuing medical education to the different district hospitals’ personnel, Lopez bared.

Relampagos said that this partnership is surely beneficial to the patients and medical professionals of provincial hospitals.

The 10 district hospitals of the PGBh are Garcia Memorial Provincial Hospital in Talibon; Teodoro B. Galagar District Hospital in Jagna; Cong. Simeon Toribio Memorial Hospital in Carmen; Catigbian District Hospital; Cong. Natalio P. Castillo Memorial Hospital in Loon, Francisco Dagohoy Municipal Hospital in Inabanga; Maribojoc Community Hospital; Candijay Community Hospital; Clarin Community

Hospital, and Pres. Carlos P. Garcia Municipal Hospital.
