My Report aired over “Open Forum – Bukas nga Panagsultihay”
In my conversation with the broadcaster of radio program “Open Forum” over DYTR’s 91.1 Balita FM, I emphasized that there is a possibility of a surge in cased of the Coronavirus disease (Covid) after Election Day on May 9, 2022.
This concern was aired from 5:00 to 6:00 pm on Apr. 27, 2022.
My pronouncement was a reiteration of the concern which experts also expressed saying that Covid cases may surge in the country after Election Day.
I said in the radio program that this surge is expected after election day on May 9, 2022.
The World Health Organization (WHO), in early April 2022, warned the country of possible surge in cases especially after the May 9, 2022 polls.
Dr. Rajendra Yadav, acting WHO representative to the Philippines, emphasized that the country should prepare and possibly prevent the spike in Covid cases.
I support the statement of the WHO representative to the Philippines. I urge the health community in Bohol to continue preparing and statying vigilant in its response to a surge in Covid cases unlike the previous spikes in such cases by ensuring there is ample stock of needed medicines and medical equipment.
I also recommend that people will continue to follow health protocol and senior citizens and immuno compromised persons will avoid crowded places. Moreover, the use of N-95 face masks should be observed instead of the use of surgical masks, in order to mitigate the surge in Covid cases.
I am also recommending to people that they get the 2nd booster shot especially the vulnerable population, which includes the senior citizens and those who are deemed to be immuno compromised.
Those who already got their 1st booster shot three months ago are already eligible to get the 2nd booster shot now.
Currently, only the vaccine made by Pfizer is recommended to be used for the 2nd booster shot based on studies.
