The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) says that the opening of the new Clarin Bridge in Loay town gets delayed due to rains and will not push through on Wednesday, May 4, 2022.

This was disclosed by DPWH 3rd Engineering District head Engr. Magiting Cruz in a telephone interview with The Bohol Tribune.

He said that due to rains on Tuesday, May 3, 2022, the work on the new bridge’s approach got stalled.

He added that definitely, the new bridge’s opening will not push through on Wednesday.

However, the contractor is working double time to finish the work being done at the new bridge so it can be opened to vehicular traffic.

The DPWH has earlier planned to open the new bridge to traffic after the old one collapsed a week ago.

Only the approaches to the new bridge remain unfinished as the new bridge itself is already ready to accept vehicular traffic even before the tragic accident happened, according to Cruz.
