Barangay Cogon bags top prize in Saulog Festival King & Queen 2022

Call it as a homecourt advantage, as the entry from barangay Cogon waltz away with the top prize in the Saulog Festival King and Queen tilt held on April 30, 2022 at the Cogon Gymnasium.
The said competition was hosted by The Bohol Tribune’s section editor loria Leodivica Araneta.
Kathleen Ausejo and Justin James Bierneza took home the top prize of the competition held in conjunction with Tagbilaran City’s annual fiesta celebration.
The Saulog King 1st runner-up is Jan Nino Baguina of barangay Manga and the Saulog Queen 1st runner-up is Hazel Mae Mejares of barangay Poblacion 3.
The Saulog King 2nd runner-up is Gerald Aniviso of barangay Taloto and the Saulog Queen 2nd runner-up is Hary Mae Vera of Tiptip.
Moreover, other awards given include:
* Best in Costume-Poblacion 3.
* Best in Choreography- Barangay Dao.

The Saulog King and Queen Festival showcased the talents of local artisans and designers, according to the City Media Bureau.
The idea was to transform the Saulog King and Queen Festival into a platform where Tagbilaranon artists can showcase their creativity, especially that theirs was halted due to the threat of the pandemic.
City Mayor John Geesnell Yap II emphasized that the health and safety rotocol was enforced in the conduct of the entire activities.
“Participants in this month-long celebration were only those who are fully-vaccinated. The organizers were also given clear instructions to implement the standard health protocols such as the wearing of face masks, washing of hands, and physical distancing. We believe that it is just fitting to embrace the new normal by doing our usual activities ith caution,” Mayor Yap said.
