Things You Need to Know about Tooth Abscess
(Part 1)
A tooth abscess is a symptom of bacterial infection. This happens when pus is formed on the inside the gums or teeth due to an infection.
The infection occurs when the soft pulp of the inside of the tooth from within the root canal has some bacteria in it.
One of the indicators of an infection is the presence of pus as bacteria lives in the plaque. The plaque is a by product of food and saliva.
When a film is produced, it sticks to the tooth’s surface and damages it and the gums.
If you get rid of the plaque, you also reduce the chance of getting infection. This week, we will start our series of columns dedicated to discussing abscess and how to prevent it.
The key here is not to take dental hygiene for granted in order to avoid complications.
Make sure you clean your teeth by brushing, flossing, and gargling these with mouthwash.
Next week we will be making a deeper dive on abscessformation.
