The new Clarin Bridge in Loay opens to light vehicles as trucks, buses and other large vehicles will initially be prohibited from passing through the said bridge.
The opening of the new Clarin Bridge was confirmed by Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) 3rd Engineering District head Engr. Magiting Cruz in a telephone interview on May 6, 2022.
Cruz said that the new bridge opened at around 3:15 in the afternoon on Friday, May 6, 2022.
He explained that the temporary prohibition for large vehicles
is to prevent congestion considering there is only one lane of the bridge where vehicular traffic can pass through.
“Mga light vehicles lang po muna, di kasama ang mga bus,” Cruz said in the telephone interview.
The DPWH is closing a lane to allow asphalting work to be done on the bridge.
The DPWH eyes to complete the asphalting by the first week of June where the two lanes will be open to traffic by then.
The new structure replaces the old Clarin Bridge which collapsed on April 27, 2022 which resulted in the death of 4 people.
