Gov. Arthur Yap has conceded defeat after the unofficial tally shows that his rival, Cong. Aris Aumentado, already amassed a huge lead in the gubernatorial race in Bohol, a day after the elections.

With more than 99% of precincts in Bohol reporting, Aumentado garnered 465, 052 votes while Yap 280, 273 votes. Hercules Castillo gained 4,185 votes while the late Concepcion Flores managed to obtain 2,662 votes.

In his statement posted on Facebook, Yap said he announces the “closure” of his involvement in local politics.

He also asked to put aside differences and unite for the future of Bohol.

Based on the statement, it seems Yap will no longer seek any local elective position.

Moreover, Aumentado’s running mate, Senior Board Member Dionisio Victor Balite has eked a lead over incumbent vice governor Rene Relampagos as of 6:02 am with 1,706 precincts out of 1,723 reporting, based on the transparency server of media outlets.

Balite gained 358,453 votes while Relampagos logged 320,722 votes, according to reports.
