Aris, Victor follow their fathers’ footsteps

The victory of Governor-elect Erico Aristotle “Aris” Aumentado and Vice Governor-elect Dionisio Victor Balite is something for the history books considering they are 2nd generation leaders who will be occupying the positions once held by their respective fathers.

Gov.-elect Aumentado is the youngest son of the late former Gov. Erico Boyles Aumentado Sr. .

The elder Aumentado led Bohol from June 2001 to June 2010 and was succeeded by former governor now 1st district Cong. Edgar Chatto as governor.

The elder Aumentado went on to win a seat as 2nd district congressman in 2010 until his death in 2012, where his son, now governor-elect of Bohol, Aris Aumentado.

During the incumbency of the elder Aumentado as governor, he was the chair of the Regional Development Council (RDC).

It was during the elder Aumentado’s incumbency that the Bohol Circumferential Road was built which allows smooth travel along the main thoroughfares of the province.

The elder Aumentado was credited for ending the insurgency problem in Bohol, as the province has been deemed to be insurgency-free for more than 12 years already.

The younger Aumentado, follows on his father’s footsteps as the new governor of Bohol, drastically different compared to the time when his father was at the helm at the Provincial Capitol. For one, the new governor will be sitting at a new Capitol building as the old one has become a museum.

Moreover, Vice Gov.-elect Balite follows the footsteps of his father Dionisio “Dioning” Balite. The elder Balite was the vice governor of Bohol from 2016 to 2019.

The elder Balite did not seek re-election as vice governor but opted to run as congressman of the 3rd district and was defeated by the current representative Kristine Alexie Tutor.

Meanwhile, The camp of Governor-elect Erico Aristotle Aumentado issued a notice to the administrators of some Facebook pages bearing the name of the incoming top official of the province to either remove the name of Aumentado or deactivate the page entirely.

The notice was released by the governor-elect’s Facebook page on May 12, 2022.

“We have learned that some Facebook pages are using the name of Bohol Governor-Elect and Second District Representative Erico Aristotle “Aris” C. Aumentado on their social media accounts,” the statement reads.

“While we [the camp of Aumentado] appreciate their support for our dear congressman during the campaign period, some posts of the administrators of these pages–which are beyond our control–do not reflect the position of the Congressman and may possibly harm his reputation,” the statement adds.

The statement said: “Furthermore, the unauthorized use of his name on social media may cause confusion and can be used to spread fake news or wrong information.”

This is why the camp of Aumentado is urging the administrators of these pages to remove the name of the governor-elect or deactivate the page.

“In this regard, we are urging the administrators of these pages either remove the name  “Aris”, “Aristotle” or “Aumentado” or any related identities from their profiles or deactivate these accounts entirely,” the statement mentions.

“The legislator’s only official Facebook page is ERICO ARIS AUMENTADO (https://www.facebook.com/aris.aumentado). This is done to ensure that only accurate and relevant information is disseminated to the public,” the statement concludes.
