Construction of new legislative bldg. starts
The construction of the New Legislative Building at the city hall compound started on Monday, May 16, 2022 following the groundbreaking ceremonies on February 21, 2022, according to the City Media Bureau.
The new legislative building will house the offices of all the city councilors and the city library.
The city library will also provide a safe depository for the records of the city legislature, which is the Sangguniang Panglungsod (SP).
The P20-million legislative building was supposed to be completed in 2021, but due to the financial demands of the Coronavirus disease (Covid) pandemic, the project was shelved and was activated on a later date.
The budget initially allocated for the building’s construction had to be realigned to augment the city’s funds for Covid response.
Another youth program in Tagbilaran unfolds
The City Government of Tagbilaran thru the City Youth Development Office (CYDO) partnered with United States Agency for International Development (USAID) Opportunity 2.0 for another youth program in the city, according to the City Media Bureau.
Project Trabaho Abante ug Oportunidad para sa Kabatan-onan (TABOK), is another grant project of Youthlead Philippines under the USAID Opportunity 2.0 Program in partnership with the City Government of Tagbilaran.
The project aims to support in providing second chance opportunities to out-of-school youth in Tagbilaran City through quality education and learning experiences, inspire life-long learning, and lead to an improved education, livelihood, or employment opportunities.
The program’s Stakeholder Kick-off Conference unfolded on April 22, 2022.
Project Manager Emma Mae Bantugan led the said activity USAID Opportunity 2.0 is a five-year initiative aimed to improve the learning and earning outcomes of out-of-school Filipino youth by working with key stakeholders from government, industry and academia.
It is geared to strengthen the education, training and employment systems at the national and local level.
These include Department of Education’s (DepEd) enhanced Alternative Learning Systems program, Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA) skills training programs, and local government programs for youth.
