To accommodate the increasing daily traffic of shoppers, Island City Mall’s (ICM) Supermarket is extending its hours of operation until 9 pm, starting on Wednesday, June 1,  2022.

In its new adjusted mall hours posted online, the Supermarket will open from 8 am and closes at 9 pm, while the Home & Fashion Department is open from 9 am until 7:30 pm starting Wednesday.

The mall tenants are going to extend their shopping hours from 9:30 am to 8 pm.

Meanwhile, as part of its 18th Anniversary celebration on June 26, Island City Mall, through the Alay Marcela Foundation of the Alturas Group of Companies, conducted Operation Tuli, where about 50 young males were circumcised in an activity that was done on May 22, 2022 at the 2nd Floor of Island City Mall, near World of Fun (WOF).
Alturas company physicians, Dr. Nonaluz Pizarras and Dr. Michael Uy, headed a group of doctors and nurses who volunteered for the said free circumcision activity.

Male circumcision is an important part of Filipino culture where something boys would go through as a rite of passage. In fact, 90% of the male population in the Philippines is circumcised.

Having the procedure done in the hospital, which would obviously be the best choice, is quite expensive and not accessible to everyone. Because of this – and probably because of tradition – some go to traditional healers that have no medical training, and have the procedure done in ways that are neither clean nor healthy. “This is the reason why we conduct it free!”, said Alay Marcela Foundation chairperson, Mrs. Gay Bernaldez.
