Police say Clarin incident suspect faces raps

The police revealed that the suspect in the Clarin incident, where 3 persons were killed and 5 others got injured, is facing charges as he is now under police custody, according to reports released on May 30, 2022.

The suspect identified is Saturnino Tirol Jr., 41, of Lumboy, Inabanga. He was driving a dumptruck and allegedly hit a tricycle, which was on its way to Talibon, with several people on board, police reports say.

He is facing charges of reckless imprudence resulting to homicide, physical injuries and damage to property.

The incident happened along the national highway of barangay Bacani, Clarin town around 10:50 am on May 29, 2022.

The collision between the tricycle and the dumptruck resulted to the deaths of Joelito Avenido, Maximo Yolego and Shirley Abesla, the police report bares.

The report reveals that those who got injured were David Japeth Torrefiel, Cleofe Avenido,
Melodina Torrefiel, Dionisio Torrefiel and the tricycle driver Arvin Socobos.

The ones who got injured were rushed to a nearby hospital for treatment.

A third vehicle was involved in the incident which is a sport utility vehicle (SUV) driven by a certain Zeus Cosare.

It was revealed that the dumptruck and the SUV were traversing the national road from Sagbayan going to Clarin, while the tricycle was travelling from Talibon to Sagbayan.

Initial investigation bares that allegedly the dumptruck lost its brakes and collided with the SUV.

The dumptruck then swerved and hit the tricycle. The tricycle was on the opposite lane at the time of the incident, the police say in their report.
