The Energy Regulatory Commission (ERC) has given its go signal for the 230-kilovolt (kv) interconnection project of the National Grid Corporation of the Philippines (NGCP), according to reports.
In a decision, the ERC approved the proposal of the NGCP’s project worth P19.61 billion.
The approved cost is slightly lower than what NGCP submitted, which is P19.76 billion, where the ERC excluded the permit fee cost.
The approved project involves an outright double circuit 230-kv submarine cable with a capacity of 600 megawatts (MW) and with a provision for a third circuit.
Moreover, the project also calls for a overhead transmission lines and a switchyard at the existing substation at Corella town, reports add.
The link is an addition to the existing power connection which brings power to Bohol from Leyte.
Currently, Bohol is heavily dependent on power coming from Tongonan, Leyte which is transmitted to the province via submarine cables.
