Balilihan set to roll out DSWD cash-for-work program

The local government unit (LGU) of Balilihan announced that it is set to roll out a cash-for-work 

program under the Department of Social Welfare and Development’s (DSWD) Kabit Bisig Laban 

sa Kahirapan-Comprehensive and Integrated Delivery of Social Services (Kalahi-CIDSS) program, according to Mayor Pureza Veloso-Chatto.

In a Facebook post on June 10, 2022, Mayor Chatto said the LGU received a P7.5 million grant 

from the said national agency for the cash-for-work program.

The mayor bared that it was decided among the barangay captains of the town that those who 

will be chosen to be included in the cash-for-work program should pass the criteria to become 

qualified as a worker under the said program.

It was decided that they are Balilihan residents who are affected by typhoon Odette, indigent, within the age range of 18 to 65 years old, either skilled or semi-skilled, and preferably fully vaccinated.

About 39 beneficiaries will be chosen per barangay. There are 31 barangays in Balilihan.

Moreover, Chatto said that 65% of the workers are males and 35% of chosen workers are females.

They shall be employed for 14 days at the various ongoing infrastructure projects of the LGU, the mayor said.

She added that the wage rate shall be aligned with the regional wage rate.

The lead barangay where the funds will be downloaded is the barangay LGU of Del Carmen 

Weste, Mayor Chatto wrote in her post.
