COMELEC: 2 prov’l bets fail to file SOCE

The Commission on Elections (COMELEC) provincial office bared that 2 out of the total 42 candidates in the provincial level were unable to submit their respective statement of contribution and expenditures (SOCE) on time.

The deadline for the submission of the SOCE was last Wednesday, June 8, 2022.

Comelec election assistant Malou Cempron said one of the candidates for governor, Concepcion Flores, died as candidate Ramil Melencion, of Lakas- Christian Muslim Democrats, who ran for 2nd district representative failed to submit his SOCE.

All candidates who ran in the elections are mandated by law to submit their respective SOCEs regardless if they won or not.

The winning candidates who failed to submit their SOCEs will not be allowed to take their oath of office.

On the other hand, losing candidates who failed to submit their SOCEs will no longer be allowed to run for public office in the succeeding elections.

According to the law, each candidate is allowed to spend P3 per voter for those who are running under a political party, while independent bets are allowed to spend P5 per voter.

The total registered voter in Bohol is 949,791.

The total voters in Bohol is further broken down as follows:

• 316,471 voters in the 1st district.

•312,534 voters in the 2nd district

• 320,786 voters in the 3rd district.

Meanwhile, all mayoralty candidates in Tagbilaran City managed to file their respective SOCEs.

In an interview by The Bohol Tribune with Comelec city election supervisor Edwin Palgan only 1 bet for 

the vice mayoralty race was unable to file his respective SOCE.

Vice mayoralty candidate Manuel del Mundo was unable to submit his SOCE, according to Palgan.

The total number of registered voters in Tagbilaran is 70,254.
