Outgoing Tagbilaran City mayor John Geesnell “Baba” Yap II will be the next City Administrator of Tagbilaran, replacing Cathelyn Torremocha.
This was confirmed by City Tourism Officer May Hope Arcenal in a telephone interview on June 14, 2022.
She said that Mayor-elect Jane Yap, Baba Yap’s wife, announced her intent to tap her husband as the City Administrator during a meeting with some City Hall personnel last June 9, 2022.
The said meeting was also attended by national government agencies and held at the City Tourism Information Center at barangay Dao.
Moreover, Mayor Baba Yap will be assuming his new role on July 1, 2022, which is also a holiday in Tagbilaran City. July 1, is the Charter Day of the lone city of Bohol.
Mayor Baba Yap did not run for any political position in the last elections as he is no longer eligible to run for re-election.
The outgoing mayor repeatedly, in a number of interviews, said that he is going to assist his wife and the two (2) will remain visible to the public.
