Governor-elect Erico Aristotle “Aris” Aumentado believes that with the latest developments, the power distribution issues in Bohol will be resolved soon.

This was the statement of the incoming governor in his latest Facebook post on June 14, 2022.

In the said post, Aumentado said that soon Bohol will have stable power as the intermittent power shortage here will be resolved soon,

He said this following a meeting with members of One Bohol Power and a representative from the Philippine Long Distance Telephone Company.

In the meeting, Bohol 1 Electric Cooperative (BOHECO1) manager Dino Roxas, Eugene Tan, BOHECO 2 head and Paul Almedilla of Bohol Light Company Inc. with PLDT’s Noynoy Gonzaga were in attendance.

The meeting discussed the latest status of the One Bohol Power consortium whose objective is to find a supplier coming from a land-based power plant located in the province.

It was revealed that the Energy Development Corporation (EDC) was awarded the contract to build the land-based power plant following a rigid bidding process.

As this developed, the National Grid Corporation of the Philippines (NGCP) is currently building the Cebu-Bohol submarine cable interconnection as another link for Bohol to the Visayas grid aside from the existing Leyte-Bohol lnterconnection.

It was reported last week that the Energy Regulatory Commission (ERC) already approved the Cebu-Bohol interconnection project.

This means that in the event power coming from Leyte is disrupted, Bohol can still draw power coming from power plants based in Cebu and the rest of the Visayas grid.

Currently, Bohol is heavily dependent on power coming from Leyte. Distruptions as a result of typhoons Odette and Agaton exposed the need of an alternative link to the power grid for Bohol.

Moreover, the land-based power plant guarantees stable and reliable power for Bohol without the need to depend on other provinces whose power supply can be disrupted due to calamities such as earthquakes and typhoons.
