Phases 1, 2 of 3rd bridge near completion, DPWH tells Yap

The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) informed Gov. Arthur Yap that phases 1 and 2 of the Tagbilaran-Offshore Connector Bridge or the 3rd structure  connecting Panglao Island with the mainland, are nearing completion.
In a report, the governor said that he and Cong. Edgar Chatto were briefed by the DPWH Region 7 team headed by Engr. Sharleen Apolinar and DPWH 1st Engineering District chief Godofredo Laga Jr. regarding the status of the 3rd bridge project.
The governor also bared that during the briefing he was told that phase 1 of the bridge project is now 90% complete which involves the approach at the Dauis side of the structure.
Moreover, the approach on the Tagbilaran side, which is phase 2, is already 86% complete. Phase 3 of the construction is ongoing, the reports add.
Once the 3rd bridge gets completed, it will lessen the travel time from the Tagbilaran seaport to the Bohol-Panglao International Airport (BPIA).
It was reported early this month that the country is looking to tap China as the funding source for the 3rd bridge.
Meanwhile, Yap and Chatto also received updates from Dr. Mutya Kismet Macuno in relation to the status of phase 1 of the construction of the Gov. Celestino Gallares Memorial Hospital (GCGMH) in Cortes town.
Macuno said that phase 1 is now 40% complete and the completion date is set in February of. 2023.
