Catigbian mayor Elizabeth Mandin-Pace delivered her State Of the Municipality Address (SOMA), on June 17, 2022 during the Katigbawan Festival highlighting some of the successes of her administration despite the challenges brought about by the pandemic and typhoon Odette.
In her SOMA, Pace emphasized her administration’s adherence to sound fiscal management with no less than the Bureau of Local Government and Finance bestowing to Catigbian the Seal of Good Financial Housekeeping.
Moreover, the town also garnered the Commission on Audit’s citation of Unmodified Opinion, the highest rating for local government fiscal management.
In the annual ranking of Cities and Municipalities Competitiveness Index (CMCI), Catigbian took a giant leap from 96th in 2020 to 31st in 2021.
The ranking is based on the sum of scores on Economic Dynamism, Government Efficiency, Infrastructure, and Resiliency.
With agriculture a key economic driver in the town, the local government invested P6,899,215.00 in farmers’ support in seeds, seedlings, and subsidies, as the national government granted to farmer organizations farm machineries to improve mechanized farming for lesser costs and efficient farming.
The national government through the Department of Public Works and Highways, also put up infrastructure projects for Catigbian worth P307,561,780 both completed and ongoing projects.
The mayor also reaped in her term, the 2018 Seal of Child Friendly Governance, the Pagtinabangay Award for the Belen Contest aside from having been a Belen Contest finalist, the Red Cross Dugong Bigay, Dugtong Buhay Award the recent National Commission on Culture and the Arts’ Haligi ng Dangal People’s Choice Award.
