Several days before he reverts to private life, Gov. Arthur Yap leads the inauguration of the new Loay’s Clarin Bridge in ceremonies inside the town’s gymnasium today, June 21, 2022.

In his message, Yap emphasized the support and financial assistance provided by the Japanese International Cooperation Agency (JICA) to the country and in particular to Bohol all these years.

He pointed out that JICA can explore other opportunities to help Bohol especially with the challenges brought about by the impact of the pandemic.

Loay’s Clarin Bridge is an infrastructure project funded with the help from JICA and built by a joint venture led by Vicente Lao Construction and Indonesian partners, according to reports.

The cost of building of the said bridge is reportedly P445 million.

Key officials of the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) were in attendance.

DPWH executives led by Usec. Maximo Carvajal and Usec. Emil Sadain inaugurated the new Clarin Bridge.

Moreover, 3rd District Rep. Kristine Alexie Tutor also delivered a speech where she described the new bridge in Loay as a gamechanger.

For his part, Loay mayor Hilario Ayuban said the new bridge can help bring more tourists to the town.

The new bridge replaces the old Clarin Bridge which collapsed in April 27,  2022 where four people died and several persons were injured. (Joshua Fullido)
