The New Generation Takes the Helm at San Miguel town

It is the dawning of a new era. It is when the next generation of leaders takes the helm at the town of San Miguel.

Following his victory in the last elections, Mayor-elect Ian Gil Mendez is about to fulfill his promise to make San Miguel town a better place to live in.

And the journey of the total transformation of the town into a vibrant area in the outskirts of Bohol begins at his oathtaking ceremony. On June 20, 2022, Mayor-elect Ian Gil Garcia Mendez, together with Vice Mayor Faustino Bulaga and elected members of the Sangguniang Bayan (SB), took their respective oaths of office before Judge Glenn Pergamino, the Presiding Judge of Regional Trial Court- Branch 52.

This was done at the town plaza of San Miguel, Bohol. During the ceremony, a State of the Town Address (SOTA) was also delivered by the outgoing mayor of said municipality, lawyer Virgilio Mendez. The ceremony started with a thanksgiving mass celebrated by Rev. Fr. Alexander Auxtero with Rev. Fr. Enrico Cortes as concelebrant. This was followed by the Oathtaking and Inaugural Celebration – an event that was graced by the families of the elected officials, outgoing SB members, local government unit (LGU) employees, barangay LGU officials, high ranking government officials including those from the towns of Mabini, Corella, Dauis, President Carlos P. Garcia and Board Member-elect lawyer Jami Villamor.

Lt. Col. Lary Buansi, the Deputy Provincial Director for Administration, and Lt. Col. Norman Nuez, Chief of Provincial Operations Management Unit, represented Col Osmundo Salibo, chief of the Bohol Police Provincial Office (BPPO) to the said event.Lt. Col. Allyson Depayso, Battalion Commander of 47th Infantry Battalion with some of his officers and Fire Supt. Noel Nelson Ababon were also present in the occasion. Moreover, representatives from Don Emilio del Valle Hospital and Gov. Celestino Gallares Memorial Hospital and the Department of Health (DOH) Region VII, also attended the event. 

Before the ceremony concluded, Mayor Virgilio Mendez delivered his State of the Town Address and took the opportunity to give awards and certificates to outstanding employees of the LGU.
A fireworks display capped the said ceremony later in the day.
