Cong. Edgar Chatto bared this week that patients in Tubigon and nearby towns undergoing dialysis will soon have access to this much needed healthcare service.
Chatto presided over a meeting on June 21, 2022 with the Gov. Celestino Gallares Memorial Hospital (GCGMH) team led by Dr. Mutya Macuno and Local Government Unit (LGU) Tubigon team led by Mayor William Jao to finalize arrangements in the operation of a dialysis center.
The Department of Health (DOH) through GCGMH is providing training and support in the operations of the dialysis center.
Through Chatto’s initiative, 12 pieces of dialysis equipment were provided by DOH to LGU Tubigon Community Hospital where the dialysis center is located.
Chatto, Jao and Macuno inspected the facility on Tuesday afternoon, June 21, 2022 followed by a meeting to discuss operational details.
Once operational, 12 available seats can serve 39 patients in a 3-shift schedule. This will give waitlisted dialysis patients at GCGMH’s 20- seat dialysis center
more chances to be accommodated.
Moreover, Chatto and Macuno also said that 40 dialysis machines are going to provide services to more patients in once the GCGMH Cortes Campus is operational.
Amidst the challenges brought about by the pandemic, Chatto considers improved healthcare as a major concern.
Under his banner HEAT IT BOHOL program, during his time as governor of Bohol, Chatto initiated the first phase modernization of Provincial Government hospitals and GCGMH Tagbilaran Campus.
He then pushed for the establishment of the GCGMH Multi Specialty Medical Complex in Cortes through the DOH.
Moreover, Chatto supported these developments in health infrastructure by initiating the opening of a College of Medicine at the Bohol Island State University (BISU) to ensure availability of physicians and healthcare providers in Bohol.
Scholarship grants are being provided by the Doctor Para Sa Bayan Law which is co-authored by Chatto.
Likewise, the Provincial Government of Bohol also offers scholarships for medical students as envisioned by Gov. Arthur Yap. The program was institutionalized through an ordinance passed by the Sangguniang Panlalawigan led by Vice Gov. Rene Relampagos.
