The Causes and Treatments of Pyorrhea (Part 1)
Pyorrhea, also known as periodontitis, is one of the most common dental problems.
This type of dental disease happens when the periodontium tissues that surround and support a patient’s toot/teeth are compromised.
If this condition is left untreated, pyorrhea can lead to tooth loss.
Tooth loss happens because a patient starts losing the alveolar bone surrounding the teeth as the periodontium deteriorates.
It’s also important to note that before the patient gets full-blown pyorrhea, there should be gingivitis first and it gets worse from there.
If there is gingivitis, it should be treated right away to avoid the situation from becoming worse.
Next week, we will be having a deep dive on the signs and symptoms of this common dental disease.
