Former Gov. Arthur C. Yap

Former Gov. Arthur Yap, now a private citizen, says he has more time to spend for his family, his law practice and his family’s business now that he is out of government service.

This is what he revealed during a radio interview over Open Forum on July 13, 2022, hosted by Atty. Greg Austral and Dave Albarado.

“Okay naman. The change of pace has been very good. Okay naman,” the former governor said when asked about the change of pace that took place when he transitioned from a public servant to a private citizen last June 30, 2022.

Moreover, he revealed that he spends time with his family in Manila and then returns to Bohol every two weeks.

He said that he has been in government service for 22 years, which included his time as agriculture secretary, three-term congressman of the third district of Bohol, and a governor from 2019 to 2022.

Now that he has reverted to private life, he said that it is difficult to avoid issues involving government and public policy.

“Lisod malikayan ang government issues and public policies, tungod kay even if I am outside of government service right now, there are many who are also calling for some consultancy services, so I have not accepted any consultancy back in the government. Apan, bisan pa, asa ta makatabang, we are generous with our time,” he said during the interview.

Likewise, he added that he is open even to help the administration of current Gov. Erico Aristotle “Aris” Aumentado, should the latter ask help or advice from the former.

“Naay nag text nako, kon mutabang ba ko ni Gov. Aris Aumentado, ingon nako, sus, anytime, bisan kinsa moduol nako,” he made the assurance to help the province’s leadership during the interview.
