Psoriasis Vulgaris

Psoriasis vulgaris is inherited as an autosomal dominant trait and the exact cause of this condition is still unknown although ethanol intake and emotions can aggravate its condition.

Clinically, psoriasis consists of thick plaques of silvery, adherent scales on scalp, elbows, knees, intergluteal clefts, pits on the nails and on the joints.

There are bleeding points when the scales are scraped off and this is called Auspitz’ sign.

Patients may also feel itchiness and this is a troublesome symptom.

In children, there have been numerous methods for treatment though to this date, it is still far from being satisfactory.

Treatment is also difficult since most regimens are time-consuming and messy.
