JICA execs visits Batuan to help town draft DRRM plan

Executives from the  Japan International Cooperative Agency (JICA) visited the town of Batuan on July 6, 2022 to help the town draft a  disaster risk reduction and management (DRRM) plan, according to a press release from the local government unit of Batuan.
JICA project team engineers   Satoshi Takata,  Yuka Kurinata and Armi Perigrino visited the town and had a fruitful discussion with Mayor Antonino Jumawid who was joined in the meeting by key officials of the town.  Jumawid told the team from JICA that the town faces disaster due to floods, typhoons, earthquakes and drought.
Furthermore, the mayor expressed to the JICA team the town’s gratitude in helping draft a DRRM plan.
After the discussion,  the JICA team  inspected  the canals and flood-prone areas in barangay Poblacion Norte,  Sur and Sta Cruz.
The team from the LGU that accompanied the JICA team was composed of Sangguniang Bayan (SB) member Luciano Bag-ao,  Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Officer Marinel Paca, Municipal Engineering Office executive, with the Municipal Planning and Development Office’s Keith Endres and JR Flores.

Moreover, prior to the arrival of the JICA team on July 6, 2022, there was an advanced party from the JICA which arrived a day earlier on July 5, 2022.
The members of the advanced party were able to present before LGU officials the plans and programs of JICA at the SB Session Hall  with the department heads and SB members headed by Vice Mayor Zing Ancog Bulalaque.
