Adiong remains favorite as PCL president, as he gets recognized by Corella SB

A few days from now councilors from all over Bohol will be electing a new set of officers for the Philippine Councilors League (PCL)-Bohol chapter.

Incumbent PCL president and Board Member Jescelo Adiong remains to be a strong bet to retain his post in the elections that will take place on July 26 to 27, 2022 at the Bohol Tropics.

For one, he has already established a strong following among his peers considering his programs and plans for the league in the last 3 years.

Just recently, Adiong was feted by members of the Sangguniang Bayan (SB) of Corella for his efforts to recognize the performance of local lawmakers.

The latest accolade only shows that Adiong is on track as the favorite for re-election as PCL-Bohol president.

Adiong, in the coming elections for PCL-Bohol president, faces contenders aligned with the present provincial administration in the person of San Isidro mayor Gloria Biwang Gementiza and Tagbilaran City councilor Jonas Cacho.

Adiong banks on the fact that he is the incumbent position holder and already has the track record in leading the PCL.

He was elected as PCL-Bohol president in 2019 and is eligible for re-election after getting a fresh new mandate as councilor of the town of Loay.

In a telephone interview, Adiong confirmed that he is indeed running for re-election as PCL-Bohol president.

“Yes, I am running for re-election,” he told The Bohol Tribune on July 15, 2022.

Adiong said that he has a fighting chance against his contenders in the PCL-Bohol elections.

The winner of the PCL-Bohol presidential elections, according to observers, may change the dynamics of the SP, which is currently dominated by members aligned with the administration of former Gov. Arthur Yap.

Meanwhile, The SB of Corella passed a resolution expressing its “sincerest gratitude” to Philippine Councilors League (PCL)-Bohol president Adiong for his significant contribution to the end-term assembly and awarding ceremonies.

Adiong told the Bohol Tribune that he received a copy of the resolution passed by the 15th SB of Corella led by former vice mayor Maria Asuncion Daquio.

Resolution no. 2022-56 expresses appreciation of the effort of Adiong as PCL president during the end term assembly and awarding rites held on June 16 to 17, 2022 at the Bohol Tropics.

According to the resolution, one of the highlights of the event was the giving of recognition to municipal councilors including ex-officio members of the various august bodies in the province for their outstanding performance especially those who were able to pass ordinances during the term spanning 2019 to 2022.

The Corella SB appreciated Adiong’s gesture to acknowledge of the diligence of local legislators by handing out certificates of recognition to each local legislator.

As this developed, the Corella SB decided to show its appreciation to the efforts of Adiong in recognizing the work rendered by councilors especially the members of the SB of Corella.

The resolution was passed on June 20, 2022 and signed by all members of the Corella SB. A copy of the resolution can be found on page 5 of this issue.
