Tagbilaran LGU opens new livelihood center

A dream envisioned two years ago has finally come to a reality when City Mayor Jane Yap led the blessing and opening of the new Tagbilaran City Garments Manufacturing Center situated at barangay Dampas on July 7, 2022, reports from the City Media Bureau reveal.

It can be remembered that during the culmination program of the women’s month celebration in 2019, former City Mayor John GeesYap II announced that a livelihood program for women’s organizations in Tagbilaran will be established.

Former mayor John Geesnell Yap, together with now City Mayor Jane Yap met with United States Agency for International Development-Strengthening Urban Resilience for Growth with Equity (USAID-SURGE) Project Coordinator Dr. Rosalinda Paredes and First Consolidated Bank executive Argeo Melisimo to discuss the possibility of setting up a livelihood initiative in Tagbilaran City.

The meeting led to the creation of the Tagbilaran City Livelihood and Community Development Unit (TCLDU) which is led by Adelfa Salutan.

Salutan shared that the City Government turned over tools and equipment that are going to be used in the livelihood center.

In a media briefing, Mayor Jane Yap said that she has already forged agreements to secure a ready market for the items that would be produced by the women in the livelihood program.
