Tagbilaran CHO leads nutrition month celebrations

The City Health Office (CHO) led the observance of the 48th National Nutrition Month which focused on reduction of stunting and the role of good nutrition in the prevention of Coronavirus disease (Covid), according to a report from the City Media Bureau.

To strengthen Tagbilaran City’s stance against the pandemic, the nutrition month celebration this year featured an interaction with some mothers coming from the city’s 15 barangays after a lecture on nutrition facilitated by the city government.

During the event, the City Nutrition Committee, in partnership with the City Veterinarian and Agriculture Office, also provided seedlings to the families with identified malnourished children.

The local government unit (LGU) of Tagbilaran held the Trabaho, Negosyo, and Kabuhayan Job Fair at the City Hall Atrium on July 16, 2022.

The report which came from the city media bureau also bared that around 500 job seekers tried their luck and applied for the available employment opportunities in the job fair, which was held – face to face – for the first time after the pandemic started.

Tagbilaran City mayor Jane Yap underscored the value of conducting a job fair. She said that a job fair is advantageous to employers as it would reduce the time spent on recruitment or talent acquisition.

The mayor also said that a job fair allows a job seeker to find the right employer who needs her/his skill set and be able to land a job in the easiest manner possible, the mayor quipped.

“This is a great opportunity to network with prospective employers. The face-to-face encounter would be advantageous to make a good first impression and improve chances of employment. This experience will give you ample exposure to practice your skills during job interview; it’s also an avenue where you can learn how to act and behave around professionals”, said Mayor Yap.

The City Mayor also thanked the participating employers who supported the activity. The job fair is part and parcel of the City Government’s 56th Charter Day celebration which was commemorated on July 1, 2022 at the Bohol Wisdom School. 

Around 30 local employers supported the event: Allied Care Experts (ACE) Medical Center Bohol; Atharra Residences, Inc.; Alona Land Property and Development Corporation; Alturas Group of Companies; Bohol Quality Corporation; DES Strong Motors; Du Ek Sam; Fan Rong Foods Incorporated; First Consolidated Bank; Fortune Group of Companies; GenDrugs; Grundstein Construction and Development Corporation; Henann Resort; Home Credit Philippines; Hyundai Cebu; IBEX Global Solutions; Onyata Trading Corporation; Pryce Gases; Ramiro Community Hospital; R-2 Distribution; Save ‘N Earn Sales; SM Supermarket Cebu; SPX Philippines; TaskUs Bohol; Taytay sa Kauswagan, Inc; Te Strong Holdings; The Bellevue Resort; TL Mabuhay Driving Lesson Academy; Wheeltek Motor Sales Corporation and Wrenleys Appliance Plaza. 

Moreover, there were 5 overseas agencies which offered job opportunities to the job seekers during the job fair.

Mayor Yap awarded certificates to the participating local and overseas employers in recognition of their support to the job fair.
