Tagb LGU looks into flood control project

In order to mitigate the nasty effects of flooding in certain city streets this rainy season, Tagbilaran local government unit (LGU) led by City Mayor Jane Yap crafted an executive order (EO), which establishes Technical Working Group (TWG) on Flood Control Program. This is according to reports from the City Media Bureau say.

The same report quotes the mayor as saying, “In the past week, grabe ang pag bundak sa uwan and unusual ag pag saka sa tubig gikan sa dagat. Makita nato ang non-stop torrential rains and back-to-back typhoons in the past months. I believe there is an urgent need for interventions to control the floods brought about by typhoons, monsoon rain, the tail-end of a cold front and other natural calamities, specifically to the low land areas that are easily flooded.”

Mayor Jane Yap also requested help from the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) to assist the city government in providing solutions to flood-prone areas in Tagbilaran City.

The DPWH reportedly has completed the construction of some flood control projects in Bohol that were hit hard by typhoon Odette.

Moreover, the DPWH said that by constructing flood control projects, lives and property are protected against the effects of terrible weather.

Mayor Jane Yap also reported that the massive clean-up of the drainage systems in Tagbilaran was implemented.
