Endurance athlete and Fiscal Ingemar Macarine, known as the Pinoy Aquaman, has successfully swum across Lake Michigan in the United States on July 25, 2022 (Manila time), according to reports.
Macarine’s swim is his first after two years as he was sidelined due to the restrictions imposed to curb the Coronavirus disease (Covid) pandemic.
The Bohol-based fiscal was joined by two other Filipino swimmers namely Rey Latada and Nick Regorgo.
Macarine said he was able to complete the Lake Michigan swim in two hours and 57 minutes, covering a distance of five kilometers.
He added that his team had to shorten the swim from the original planned distance of 10 kms., due to bad weather.
The swim took sone time as there was only one escort boat available, the fiscal narrated.
Moreover, Macarine said he dedicates the Lake Michigan swim to his friend, Lisa Amorao, who passed away in May 2022.
Macarine earned the nickname Pinoy Aquaman for his pioneering exploits in introducing the sport of open water swimming in the country.
He attempted to swim across the English Channel back in 2017, bidding to become the first Filipino to complete the open water swim across the channel located between the United Kingdom and France.
However, he was unable to complete the attempt due to bad weather.
