San Isidro councilor Gloria Biwang Gementiza completed her comeback as she bagged the presidency of the Philippine Councilors League (PCL)-Bohol chapter following a lengthy canvassing process that ended early morning of July 27, 2022.

Gementiza managed to earn 298 votes against incumbent PCL-Bohol chapter president Jescelo Adiong of Loay who managed to eke out 176 votes, according to reports.

With the victory, Gementiza returns to the Sangguniang Panlalawigan (SP) as the new ex-officio member of the provincial legislature.

She was the PCL-Bohol chapter president from 2016 to 2019. She opted to run for a regular seat at the SP but lost in 2019.

Gementiza ran with the backing of Gov. Erico Aristotle Aumentado while Adiong is a known ally of former Gov. Arthur Yap.

Gementiza’s victory meant that the members at the SP aligned with Aumentado increased.

The number of SP members aligned with Aumentado is now 6 while there are 7 members of the provincial board who are in the opposition.

Moments following her victory, Gementiza, in a Facebook post, thanked her supporters.

Meanwhile, Tagbilaran City councilor Nicanor Besas snatched the post of Executive Vice President as he ran unopposed.

Besas, who ran under the banner of Asenso Pa More of Tagbilaran City under mayor Jane Yap, is the father of 3rd district Cong. Kristine Alexie Tutor.

While Asenso Pa More is allied with Yap’s Padayon Bol-anon, Tutor is a staunch ally of Aumentado.

Moreover, Besas ran as Gementiza’s running mate.
