TCPS, Mayor Jane launch mobile library project

The Tagbilaran City Police Station (TCPS) concluded the nationwide 27th Philippine National Police (PNP) Police Community Relations (PCR) Month with the launching of Project REAL (Reading Enhancement, Assessment & Literacy) at the Plaza Rizal on July 27, 2022, according to reports.
The project is also dubbed, “Libro Mo, Pag- laum Ko”, and in partnership with the City Government of Tagbilaran led by City Mayor Jane Yap, the police mobile library for out- of- school youths aims to visit all the 15 city barangays during the entirety of the reading & educational program.
According to TCPS chief Lt. Col. Regie P. Real: “This is just the start of PNP’s very own humble contribution to the city authorities’ thrust and commitment on education and especially geared towards the less privileged of the youth”
Meanwhile, during the said activity, the TCPS also presented plaques of appreciation to individuals and institutions for their support to the success of its peace and order programs.
Among this year’s awardees are lawyer Lord Marapao IV, City Advisory Council Chairman; Juvie Calacat, Bohol Bankers Association President; Engr. Winefredo Salas, Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA) Bohol Provincial Director; Pastor Reysam Carvero, Spiritual Life Coach; Jose Floro Ringca, Tagb City Sangguniang Kabataan President; philanthropist Dalareich Polot and City Health Officer Dr. Jeia Pondoc.
In her message, Mayor Jane Yap expressed her administration’s joy and pride in having the TCPS as its partner not only in peace-keeping but also in community- building.
“Education has always been close to my heart and the City PNP’s project is much welcome because it is in congruence with our focus on education and literacy. I vow to continue what Mayor Baba Yap has started especially access to free education from daycare to high school. We also have free college education for qualified recipients at Tagbilaran City College.”
She has thrown her all-out support for the project through the donation of digital TV systems and educational materials.
The Police Community Relations (PCR) is an integral part of the PNP which is aimed at strengthening the partnership between the police, the community and the stakeholders through activities and programs that promote and develop mutual trust, cooperation and participation.

USAID trains 25 Bohol health workers on family planning group counselling

The United States Agency for International Development (USAID) recently trained 25 nurses and midwives from Bohol on family planning group counselling.
Reports say that USAID Deputy Mission Director Rebekah Eubanks and Office of Economic Development and Governance (OEDG) Director Jeff Goebel observed the conduct of the family planning group counselling, also called as EnhancedUsapan, by the newly trained health workers.

The Tagbilaran City Livelihood and Community Development Unit (TCLCDU) conducted a two-day Workshop/Training on 3D Modelling and Printing to the out-of-school youth (OSY) beneficiaries where they were trained to manufacture souvenir items at Reyna’s, The Haven and Gardens on July 25 to 26, 2022.
The City Media Bureau reported that Engr. Jan Ray Rulida, Livelihood Equipment and Hardware Specialist of the TCLCDU facilitated the training where around 15 OSY beneficiaries participated in preparation for the mass production of souvenirs and other related products for Tagbilaran City.
Just recently, City Mayor Jane Yap graced the blessing of the new Tagbilaran City Garments Manufacturing Center in barangay Dampas held at the Barangay Dao session hall where a total of 30 clients in two batches were provided with family planning information.
“This is another initiative that affirms USAID’s commitment to support a healthier Philippines. We congratulate the newly trained health workers who have chosen to be among Bohol’s health champions,” Eubanks said.
At the same venue, Eubanks and Goebel also interacted with the trained facilitators and later, awarded their training certificates.
Tagbilaran City mayor Jane Yap, who also graced said, “I’d like to thank USAID for this program (Enhanced Usapan). It gave us the opportunity to learn safe family planning methods. Rest assured that I will explore the possibilities of strengthening this program. We will not limit it to today’s participants, but we will also include women who are willing to learn more about this family planning information and methods.”
The training in Enhanced Usapan, which began in 2019, is among the technical assistance that USAID’s Reach Health project provided to the health workers in Central Visayas. The Enhanced Usapan training in Bohol began in April this year and is envisioned to contribute to further increase the uptake of family planning services in the province. “
The program will complement the earlier support given by USAID to community health workers in identifying unmet family planning needs of women and men in their communities.
USAID has also distributed family planning information materials to the rural health units to aid health workers in their discussions with clients who visit the health facilities, as well as promote correct information on family planning and its different options.
