Researchers from the University of Bohol (UB) again showed their mettle during the recently-concluded 5th Asia Pacific (APAC) Conference on Interdisciplinary Research held from July 25 to 27, 2022 via Zoom Teleconferencing, according to a press release from the University.
The conference, which had the theme: “Rebuilding Society after Pandemic through Research,” brought research practitioners from several Asian countries.
The aim of the conference is to disseminate new knowledge obtained from research findings. The conference also served as an ideal platform to publish research results.
The first day of the conference saw organizers bestow awards for Best Paper and Scientific Article.
Dr. Leah Wilfreda Echavez-Pilongo, UB’s Dean of Research, was as one of the keynote speakers.
The third day saw organizers, led by the Asian Association of Interdisciplinary Research and co-hosts Columbian College, Inc., UB and Hayam Wuruk Perbanas University in Surabaya, Indonesia hand awards to the presenters who made an impression on the judges and also to those in attendance in the conference.
In all, student and faculty researchers from UB won 13 awards during the three-day event.
Dr. Liza Estoria-Maquiling was awarded with the citation of Best Paper in Social Science for her study, “Citizen Service Quality Standard: Its Levels of Implementation, Satisfaction, and Problems Encountered as Perceived by Clients, DepEd-Tagbilaran City.”
Meanwhile, five researchers from UB were awarded with the Article Citation Award, which was given to researchers in relation with their published studies in Google Scholar.
Among those awarded researchers were Dr. Jerome Magallen with four citations and Dr. Emma Roluna, Joseph Lajera and Adelfa Maranga with one citation each.
Furthermore, seven UB researchers were named as Best Research Presenters.
The faculty members were recognized for their excellence in presenting their studies. The faculty members cited were Dr. Magallen, Dr. Rulona, Xenita Vera Oracion and Virginia Bongcac, while the student researchers given such recognition were Dr. Maquilling, Lilibeth Lapatha and Jhel Marie Acosta.
These awards continue a trend of research-based recognition that the university has been receiving in the past few years despite the difficulties presented by the pandemic.
UB consistently won awards in the various research fora for a where the University has been a participant, further strengthening the research credentials of the institution. (Elijah L. Sales)
