GUGMA Tagbilaran bags award for contribution to disaster resilience

The cause-oriented group GUGMA Tagbilaran which was founded by current Tagbilaran City mayor Jane Yap received an award for the group’s contribution to disaster resilience during the culmination activity celebrating the National Disaster Resilience Month on July 29, 2022 at the Saulog Gymnasium, according to reports.

The City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (CDRRMO) led the observance of the “National Disaster Resilience Month” (NDRM) with the theme “Sambayanang Pilipino, nagkakaisa tungo sa katatagan at maunlad na kinabukasan”. 

The Office of the Civil Defense (OCD) earlier emphasized the importance of a united effort in the attainment of making communities ready and safe. 

It added that cooperation among the people will do a great deal in helping the government achieve its goal of creating safer communities. 

Aside from GUGMA Tagbilaran, CDRRMO chief Gerard Lavadia also acknowleged the contributions of the 15 barangay captains of the city,  the Tagbilaran City Police Station, City Fire Station, City Social Welfare and Development Office, City Health Office, and City General Services Office.

Moreover, Lavadia highlighted the contributions to disaster resiliency of the Active Local Emergency Response Team (ALERT), City Media Bureau, City Engineering Office, City Traffic Management Office, City Youth Development Office, Chocolate Hills Amateur Radio League (CHARL),Telephone and Radio System Integrated Emergency Response (TARSIER 117), Kabalikat Radio Communications, Philippine Red Cross-Bohol Chapter; Philippine Atmopheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration, Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology, Philippine Coast Guard Tagbilaran; Maritime Police Station, and the Tagbilaran City Schools Division.  

Executive Order No. 29 series of 2017 signed by former president Rodrigo Duterte on June 28, 2017, mandates the observance of National Disaster Resilience Month throughout the country through the conduct of activities relative to the building of disaster resilience.

Mayor Jane Yap works towards granting pay hike to JO, casual workers

Tagbilaran City mayor Jane Yap revealed that she has already started the process of increasing the pay of job order (JO) and casual employees.

A post on Aug. 5, 2022 said that the pay hike will take effect next year.

“Ganina nakig breakfast meeting ko para masugdan na ug process ang pag increase sa sweldo sa atong mga Job Order Casual Employees which will take effect on 2023,” the mayor said in his post.

The mayor added that even if the city’s Internal Revenue Allotment is not sizeable, the local government unit (LGU) has been looking for ways to provide additional pay for city workers.

“Bisan na gamay ag atong IRA (Internal Revenue Allotment), nangita gyud ta ug paagi tungod kay daghang pamilya ang ga lisod,” the mayor mentioned in her post.

Meanwhile, the mayor provided grocery packages to the graduates of Idol ko Si Nanay participants from barangay Poblacion 2.
