UB lends a hand to Tagb’s vaccine rollout

The University of Bohol (UB) Medical and Dental Unit, in coordination with the Tagbilaran City Health Office, lent a hand to the City Government in the  conduct of a two-phase vaccination rollout from July 28 to 29, 2022 done at the UB Gymnasium Mezzanine.

The 2nd phase of the vaccine rollout took place on Aug. 4, 2022 at the UB Victoriano D. Tirol-Advanced Learning Center campus and among those accommodated for vaccinations were minors aged 5 to 17 years old accompanied by either a parent or a  guardian.

People who were scheduled for their 2nd vaccine dose and booster shots were also accommodated.

In the conduct of the vaccination rollout, health and safety protocols set by the Commission on Higher Education (CHED) and Inter-Agency Task Force (IATF) were followed.

UB CONDUCTS LEADERSHIP SEMINAR

Meanwhile, in line with its thrust in molding students to become responsible citizens of the community, the UB Student Affairs Office successfully conducted a three-day Leadership Enhancement and Development Seminar (LEADS) from July 28 to 30, 2022, at the Information Resource Center (IRC), a press release from the University reported. 

The activity formally opened with an invocation led by Kathryn Jane Canuto, outgoing senator of the College of Nursing as UB Supreme Student Government (UBSSG) outgoing Vice President Danielyn Buca, warmly welcomed and recognized the participants.

In his inspirational message, UB President Dr. Victoriano Tirol, III lauded the student leaders for their passion for leading and serving.

He reminded everyone of the university’s commitment to transforming its students’ lives for a great future including the trinity of virtues the university stands for which are scholarship, character, and service. Tirol encouraged the students to be proactive and dedicated leaders willing to serve the community.

After the message of the UB president, Meccah Salinasal, OIC of the Student Affairs Office, gave the training overview.

Adding color to the opening program was the presence of Tagbilaran City Mayor Jane Yap.

Mayor Yap shared with the seminar participants her real experience in leadership, as she advised young leaders to adopt the consultative type of leadership and to be a good team players in an organization.

As the first lady mayor of Tagbilaran City, she emphasized that gender does not matter in leadership as long as one has a strong commitment to serve others.

Mayor Yap thanked the students for supporting her in the last elections, including the support they gave to her husband former mayor John Geesnell Yap II.

During the seminar-workshop, a topic on Spiritual Wellness was also discussed by Pastor James Famador, followed by a talk on Creating Balance: Prioritizing Your People, Nurturing Your Resources by Dennisa P. Ladaga, a guidance counselor.

A discussion ensued on the Role of Effective Written Communication in Student Leadership and Hannah Adelit Rodriguez likewise expounded the topic on Oral Communications.

Furthermore, Dr. Marilou Fudalan, Community Extension Service Office Head, focused her discussion on Community Engagements and Outreach Programs to the department governors and advisers.

Meanwhile, James Emmanuel Tabigue, Student Employment Facilitation (SEFO) Office Head, discussed the topic on Student Leaders – A Commitment to Excellence: Bringing Out the Best in People and How to Enjoy Helping Others Excel.

An open forum, reflections and breakout sessions in between lectures were conducted by student facilitators.

On the third day, the closing program started with opening remarks by Janna Ethel Marie Boldo, Student Activity Assistant. It was followed by the farewell speeches of Kiette Bitol and Buca, outgoing President and vice president, respectively of the UBSSG.

This paved the way for the incoming UBSSG  president Catherine Zeta Batiancilla and incoming vice president Jeany Ann Namuag to deliver their acceptance speeches.

After the awarding of medals to outgoing officers, the UB LEADS 2022 formally ended the activity with the closing remarks delivered by Dr. Lemuel Belarmino, Dean, Student/Personnel Office.
