Cong. Edgar Chatto revealed that the Visayas Development Committee in the House of Representatives is now looking at the feasibility of building bridges to connect the different islands of the Visayas region.
He revealed this during an interview over “Newsmakers Ug Uban Pa” radio program on Aug. 24, 2022, hosted by Ardy Araneta-Batoy and Dave Albarado.
The solon from the 1st District of Bohol bared that the bridge project proposal connecting Leyte and Bohol was discussed in the committee meeting.
The solon added that the Leyte officials expressed interest in having a bridge that will connect their area to the island province of Bohol.
Chatto also said that being considered is the Bohol-Cebu connector bridge.
He admitted that the projects may not be realized in the near future, but the present discussions on connecting bridges will help in the realization of these mega projects.
The Visayas Development Committee is composed of congressmen from the Visayas and not all lawmakers from the region are able to gain membership to this committee.
The committee members are chosen via election, Chatto, who is the vice chairman of the said committee, explained.
Furthermore, he said that the committee is focused on discussing issues and projects for the development of the Visayas.
