City councilor wants to suspend operation of water refilling stations which will fail the potability tests in Tagb City

Tagbilaran City Councilor Jonas Cacho

A city councilor wants to suspend the operation of water refilling stations doing business in the city if such stations fail the potability tests.

In a radio interview on Aug. 30, 2022, Councilor Jonas Cacho said it is prudent to suspend the operation of water refilling stations whose products are not safe for human consumption based on laboratory tests.

Cacho’s statement is a reaction to the privilege speech of Board Member Lucille Lagunay exposing that
there are water refilling stations allegedly producing water products which are not potable or safe for human consumption.

Moreover, Cacho stressed that the suspension of the operation of erring water refilling stations is meant to protect the consumers.

Cacho is the chairman of the Committee on Public Utilities at the Sangguniang Panglungsod (SP).

Reports say that there are several water refilling stations and waterworks system in the province, which failed in the potability test conducted by the Provincial Health Office as exposed by Board Member Lagunay.

Cacho said he hopes he can get a copy of the list of water refilling stations which failed in the potability test based on the standards of the Department of Health (DOH) and the World Health Organization (WHO) as this will be the basis for the next steps to be taken by city authorities.
