There are only 17 drug-free barangays in Bohol PDEA says

There are only 17 drug-free barangays in Bohol out of the 570 drug cleared villages in this province based on the records of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA), according to a report by the Philippine Information Agency (PIA) released on Sept. 5, 2022.

PDEA agent Chona Egam is urging community support to help the agency increase the number of drug-free barangays in Bohol.

A barangay needs to be declared drug -cleared first before getting the tag of being drug-free, she explained.

Moreover, Egam said it takes time before a drug-cleared barangay gets to be classified as drug-free village.

She said the community plays a huge role in the classification of a barangay as a drug-free area.

A barangay is deemed drug free when there is absolutely no more drug-related activities in the area as determined by the Regional Oversight Committee, Egam said.
