Catigbian encourages growing of coffee, cacao as new agricultural products

Catigbian mayor Elizabeth Mandin

Catigbian mayor Elizabeth Mandin said that the town will soon be focusing on coffee and cacao growing as its new agricultural products as a means to provide additional livelihood and opportunities to local farmers.

She disclosed this during an interview over Open Forum radio program on Sept. 7, 2022 hosted by Gloria Araneta and Dave Albarado.

The mayor said she was inspired to push for coffee and cacao growing after a visit to the town of Tuburan in Cebu province a couple of weeks ago.

After the visit, the mayor said, she will be implementing the same idea she obtained in the Tuburan trip to help farmers in Catigbian earn more through cacao and coffee growing.

Moreover, she intends to seek additional help from the Department of Agriculture in the processing and packaging of coffee and cacao products and make them ready for the market.

Mayor Mandin is focusing on agriculture in her 2nd term as the town’s chief executive.
