VM Trisha: Balilihan water proj. remains on track

Balilihan mayor Trisha Chatto revealed that the construction of her town’s waterworks remains on track.

This was her revelation during a radio interview over Newsmakers Ug Uban Pa radio program on Sept. 6, 2022, hosted by Ardy Araneta-Batoy and Dave Albarado.

The work on the construction of the waterworks continues despite challenges which include the cancellation of the town’s conditional water permit (CWP) by the National Water Resources Board (NWRB).

Back in June 2022, the NWRB cancelled the CWP of Balilihan due to inaccuracies in the diversion point of Bugwak Spring.

The CWP of Balilihan identified the diversion point as located in barangay Sto. Niño, Balilihan.

However, based on the ocular inspection of the NWRB, the actual diversion point is in barangay Magsaysay, Sevilla town.

The local government unit (LGU) of Balilihan has filed a motion for reconsideration on the decision of the NWRB to cancel the CWP.

Even with the cancelation order, Balilihan’s CWP remains valid according to Mayor Pureza Veloso-Chatto.

The vice mayor said that the LGU is determined to realize the waterworks project which will bring huge benefit to the people of the said town.
