The local government units (LGU) of Balilihan and Garcia Hernandez bagged the Green 

Banner Seal of Compliance Award from the National Nutrition Council (NNC) of Central Visayas, according to reports.

The awards were given on Sept. 16, 2022 at the Summit Galleria Hotel in Cebu City, 

the same reports bare.
Dr. Parolita Mission, the program coordinator of the NNC in Central Visayas said the agency’s 

goal with the awards is to acknowledge the efforts of LGUs in implementing nutrition programs within their respective jurisdictions.
The said award is the highest accolade at the regional level given to an LGU’s effort to 

implement its nutrition program.
Balilihan mayor Pureza Veloso-Chatto shared the best practices of her town by prioritizing 

the nutrition needs of the people of her town, especially those in the rural areas through  the efforts of the Municipal Nutrition Committee’s Countryside Action Program, according to a report.

Moreover, Enriquito Acenas, the Municipal Nutrition Officer of Garcia Hernandez talked 

about his town’s implementation of its nutrition program.
This is the first time the NNC Central Visayas held the awards in 2 years due to lockdowns 

brought about by the pandemic.
