“Don’t Worry Darling” at Screenville Cinemas

A slick psychological thriller about a young and happy couple in the 1950s living in a seemingly perfect community which is hiding some disturbing secrets, “Don’t Worry Darling” is now showing at Screenville Cinemas of Island City Mall and Alturas Mall.

Harry Styles (“Dunkirk”) of One Direction fame stars as the workaholic husband Jack of a glamorous, but devoted housewife Alice (Florence Pugh-“Black Widow”) who begins to worry about the nature of her husband’s work in the town’s mysterious company. No one else seems worried about it, but for her there’s definitely something weird going on out there. Her curiosity raises tensions within the community.

With every resident’s needs met by the company life is perfect. All they ask in return is discretion and unquestioning commitment to the company where their husbands work. But when cracks in her idyllic life begin to appear, exposing flashes of something much more sinister lurking beneath the building, Alice can’t help questioning exactly what they’re doing in the company, and why. Just how much is Alice willing to lose to expose what’s really going on in this place?

“DON’T WORRY DARLING” is now showing at Screenville Cinemas of Island City Mall and Alturas Mall.

COMING SOON

“The Woman King” at Screenville Cinemas

The remarkable story of the Agojie, the all-female unit of warriors who protected the African Kingdom of Dahomey in the 1800s with skills and a fierceness unlike anything the world has ever seen, “The Woman King” will premiere on Wednesday, October 5, at Screenville Cinemas of Island City Mall and Alturas Mall.

Inspired by true events, the film follows the emotionally epic journey of General Nanisca (Oscar-winner Viola Davis) as she trains the next generation of recruits and readies them for battle against an enemy determined to destroy their way of life. Some things are worth fighting for.      Agojie is the all-woman army of the African kingdom of Dahomey. At its height in the 1840s, it boasted an army so fierce that its enemies spoke of its prodigious bravery. This 6,000-strong force Agojie raided villages under cover of darkness, took captives and slashed off resisters’ heads to return to their king as trophies of war. Through these actions, the Agoije established Dahomey’s preeminence over neighboring kingdoms and became known by European visitors as “Amazons” due to their similarities to the warrior women of Greek myth.

“THE WOMAN KING” will premiere on Wednesday, October 5, at Screenville Cinemas of Island City Mall and Alturas Mall.
