Balilihan wins 2 awards, successfully celebrates Sumad 2022

The local government unit of Balilihan bagged 2 awards within a week, according to Mayor Pureza Veloso-Chatto.

In a post, Chatto said that the town won the award for being the best municipal nutrition council in Bohol and for this, the LGU received a plaque and a cash prize of P100,000 from the Provincial Government of Bohol.

Moreover, the LGU won the award as the 1st town to achieve zero open defecation in all of its barangays, the mayor said.

The two citations come at the heels of an earlier achievement where Balilihan received the Green Banner Seal of Compliance in Region 7 for being one of the best Municipal Nutrition Councils (MNC) in Bohol.

The provincial government of Bohol cited 10 LGUs including Balilihan as among the towns with top performing MNC.

Aside from Balilihan, which is the top NMC in Bohol, the other towns cited were: Alicia (2nd place), San Miguel (3rd place), Trinidad (4th place), Ubay (5th place), Sikatuna (6th place), Catigbian (7th place), Sierra Bullones (8th place), Candijay (9th place) and Garcia Hernandez (10th place).

Each town in the top 10 received a plaque and a cash prize, according to reports.

Balilihan’s barangay Boyog proper also won as the best Barangay Nutrition Council in the 1st District.

SUMAD CELEBRATIONS

The town has plenty to be thankful for and it expressed its appreciation to the blessings via a grand celebration of the 194th year foundation anniversary called Sumad 2022.

A Pista sa Nayon and the awarding of achievers highlighted the Sumad 2022 celebrations on Sept. 29, 2022.

Prior to the Sumad itself, Balilihan had the Food Bazaar, which was one the highlights of the celebration.

No less than 20 food exhibitors are participating in the event.

Moreover, the town conducted the Larong Pinoy activity on Sept. 27, 2022.

The activity featured several native games such as sack race, takyang and tumba lata among others.

Likewise, the local government unit (LGU) had a wellness day on Sept. 27, 2022 as services such as haircut, manicure, pedicure, physical therapy and vaccinations, among others, were offered to the public inside the town’s gymnasium.
