The town of Catigbian has plenty to celebrate as it has gained another accolade in the field of nutrition.
In an in-person live radio interview over Open Forum hosted by Dave Albarado on Sept. 29, 2022, Mayor Elizabeth Mandin confirmed that her town received an award for being the 7th best Municipal Nutrition Council (MNC) out of 47 towns.
Provincial Health Officer Reymoses Cabagnot was the one who informed Mandin of the award, the mayor said.
For this, the said town received a plaque of recognition and a cash prize of P30,000, Mandin revealed.
During the interview, Mandin said that the town provided special focus on the nutrition of children as well as the mothers of young children in order to stop malnutrition.
COMPETITIVE CATIGBIAN
The award, she said, is a reinforcement of the fact that Catigbian is ranked as the 31srt Most Competitive Town in the Philippines among 3rd and 4th class municipalities based on the ranking of the Cities and Municipalities Competitive Index (CMCI) for 2021.
Mandin said that she is proud that her town was able to get several infrastructure projects from the national government with the help of Catigbian resident Benjie Oliva and Cong. Edgar Chatto.
Several infrastructure projects such as flood control and farm-to-market roads were implemented in the town, which helped in its competitive index score.
Meanwhile, Mandin stressed that her town government and employees displayed exemplary performance last year, and this made Catigbian eligible to get the Performance Based Bonus (PBB).
The said town is among the few towns in the country allowed by the national government to provide PBB to elected and regular employees of the local government unit of Catigbian.
She stressed that the PBB is an additional blessing to the hardworking personnel of the LGU as she explores the possibility of sharing part of the PBB of the recipients to the casual and job order employees of LGU Catigbian.
